You decide to go back into Laura's commlink. On the homescreen, you see an app called MedPlus, which you figure is probably where someone would keep track of medical appointments, right? Though you feel guilty about being so intrusive, you feel like it's pretty important to figure out what's going on with Laura, and you're naturally quite a curious person…Maybe you should have been a private investigator.

You open up the app and look for the Upcoming Appointments tab. It's empty. No upcoming appointments. Curious…

Something else catches your eye. You don't want to be toooo nosy, but…Hey, we're looking for any clues we can get here. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission! Just don't think too hard about how nosy you're being right now. Don't think about it at all. Maybe you were a private investigator in another life. Let's go with that.

You see a section labeled Records, and there seem to be records here for both Laura and Ken. You figure it makes sense that Laura would be the one managing both their records, considering this looks far too dense for Ken to care about in the slightest.

You skim through Laura's documents. Most of what you see is typical stuff…Prescriptions for medication, a small cyberware removal procedure a few years ago…A lot of checkups from about three years ago. It looks like her health was pretty bad at the time - Or terrible, even, considering all the various medications that were prescribed and the many appointments that were made. It seems like she's doing better now, though not exactly the pinnacle of perfect health or anything. There's a doctor's note you take notice of, from a couple of years ago -

"Nothing serious, but you do still have some residual internal scarring. This is likely a result of drain from your previous magic use, but obviously that's not something you need to worry about anymore. See a specialist if you're concerned, but I wouldn't be."

A bit odd, but, well, she definitely doesn't have some mysterious terminal disease that's making her act weird, so that's good. Still a bit mysterious, though.

You see Ken's files too. There's a major cyberware procedure from two years ago - It looks like it was a cyberheart replacement. Zowie! That's pretty major. There are previous records from years before that, too, though, which included quite a few appointments with a 'Doctor Alvarez'. There are dozens of EKGs and echocardiograms, with notes on how to maintain a cyberheart…Seems like the replacement from a couple of years ago was a major upgrade from the previous one, and Ken seems to be having way less problems with it now.

In addition to the cyberware information, it seems like Ken was visiting the doctor quite a bit a little over three years ago with broken bones, lacerations, all sorts of injuries. What in the world was he getting into?

OK, otherwise...Ken seems to be in pretty good health! Good for him.

You see a list of appointments and services and their associated billing. Damn! This stuff is EXPENSIVE! We still have not figured out universal free healthcare in the year 2082, it seems. Well, why would we? This is a cyberpunk capitalist hellscape, duh. If you're not going to an under-the-table street doc with an eyepatch and an affinity for Nova-Coke, then you're paying a pretty penny for actual medical services that probably won't kill you. That's the way it goes.

With this many medical bills, you wonder how TWO-VOLT! even keeps the lights on. Their relentless touring and frequent releases make a little more sense now.

Well, now that that breach of privacy is all done with…You feel like you learned some useful information. You at least know for certain that these appointments Ember mentioned certainly aren't doctor's appointments.

You get a message from Ken! He tells you to meet up at a breakfast joint nearby…No, not Benny's again. A different breakfast joint. Hopefully with better food.
